For a (long) intro and walkthrough try Apricot mapping. X3 is much bigger in Europe and Russia and the best site to get stats is this russian knowledge base. I am about 26 hours in to my first real game of X3TC and am about to build my first Space Weed (yes, that's what you think it is) station complex which will provide a nice steady income stream. But the default (Terran) start gives you a pretty good medium fighter (M4). There are some abandoned ships you can pick up to get a head start. Some new players have a lot of trouble making money in X3. You need a decent video card as the graphics are very high quality renders of space ships, stations, etc.įYI the TAGES DRM is still in the game so buy it on Steam if you want to avoid that. I thought I'd make an updated thread and see if anyone else is playing it. Now that 2.1 is out it is solid and stable.
It was straight to Steam in the US but the 2.0 update has a retail release. This is a great game if you like space flight sims with RPG elements such as Freelancer, Elite, and prior X-series games.
